Abby Wambach Marries Sarah Huffman In Hawaiian Ceremony

Abby Wambach is married!

The Olympic superstar married her girlfriend, fellow soccer player Sarah Huffman , in an intimate ceremony at the Villas at Po'ipu Kai in Kauai, Hawaii, on Saturday, Oct. 5, TMZ first reported. The couple exchanged vows on a beach at sunset in front of their family and friends.

On Wednesday, Wambach, 33, tweeted her thanks to fans who congratulated them on their nuptials.

And Huffman shared a photo of their dapper dogs.

Rumors of a Wambach-Huffman wedding began spreading after the couple's registry was found at TheKnot.com recently, Buzzfeed noted. Also, in August, Huffman tweeted a photo of her rainbow colored nail polish, and fans took note of a huge diamond on her ring finger.

Reports about the two dating have been floating around since 2011. While Wambach has never publicly come out, Huffman quietly came out In July when she announced she was working with Athlete Ally, a gay rights group that combats homophobia in the sports industry, SheWired noted.

"I am excited to be an ally and stand up for people like me in the LGBT community," she wrote at the time.
