Physical books are great and all, but wouldnt it be nice to carry them without the weight? Or better yet, what if you could take your entire library with you anywhere, any time? The Amazon Kindle offers exactly that with a compact convenience that got one user to call it their every day, everywhere companion. This famous e-reader still dominates the market due to its lengthy battery life (up to a claimed six weeks on a single USB-C charge), supreme lightweight that feels like nothing in your hand , six-inch display with built-in light and ample 16 GB storage.

As our own shopping staff writer and bookworm Haley Zovickian aptly sums up , the Kindle is an excellent and incomparable tool for enabling us readers to read as much as possible, wherever we are. And right now, you can grab one for yourself on sale at 15% off its typical price a discount thats actually lower than the 10% we saw last Prime Day . Regularly $99.99, this renowned e-reader is down to just $84.99 in its signature black or navy colorway for a limited time.

With a high-resolution, glare-free and paper-like display plus an adjustable built-in light and a dark mode this e-reader can be used day and night. Its 16 GB of storage is enough to store thousands of books (and .pdfs and documents), and with an added Kindle Unlimited subscription , you can just pull those ebooks from the cloud.

This small device is perfect for commuters, travelers who cant pack a ton of books or anyone looking to declutter their libraries. One of my favorite features, though, is that its super small and light, which I really love, says reviewer Sparky . Its the smallest, lightest, most pocketable Kindle theres ever been. Thats a nice feature that makes you more likely to take it with you everywhere.

Note that the version currently 15% off features a lock screen with ads. The ad-free version is slightly more expensive; however, its on sale right now for $95.99 , so 20% off.

Act fast and grab this Amazon Kindle for under $100 its and read on for more Kindle reviews from avid readers and daily users.

I was not expecting to like this as much as I do. I prefer to have the physical books but ebooks are a lot cheaper, so I finally decided to get a kindle. I got this one because it was cheap and I was unsure of how I would like it. I love it! Its really light so its really easy to hold. Its small, about the size of my hand, which makes it easy to travel with and the screen is most of the front. Its really easy to set up, took me like 2 minutes, it can hold a lot of books and has decent battery. The adds on the lock screen are just kindle books, so I dont even mind them, some of the books are ones that Ill probably read in the future.  M.E.

The kindle is my every day everywhere companion. I use it mainly to read my own books which I uploaded to it through the computer, and sometimes I also read some free books from the Kindle store. The quality is great! Not like the old Kindles where pdfs came out blurry and unclear. The documents are very clear just like reading the book itself. The Wikipedia on it is also very practical, to search something random you read in a book. Its small but very comfortable of reading making it easy to take anywhere. The battery lasts like a week when using it a long time every day. The store has a big variety of books (I only buy the free ones). The only issue is that when making collections, after you already put some books into a collection, and you want to make a new one, all those books will still be on the list.  qwe

Honestly, the Kindle changed my life forever. I doubted e-readers for so long, but after seeing one in-person at a store and experiencing how well the screen imitated paper, especially when the front lighting is off, I knew I had to have one. I got a case for my Kindle which I use to hold it like a physical book (it adds something for me). The front lighting is so easy on the eyes compared to reading on a phone, tablet, or computer, though I usually turn it off completely during the day. I use Dark mode to read in bed at night, and it helps me sleep because I can relax with all the lights off and there are no bright LEDs shining right into my eyes. I also save a significant amount of space, since I already have a vast amount of physical books. Overall, I would highly recommend the Kindle. Two things, though. 1) If you read as often as I do, the battery does not last weeks. That claim is based on 30 minutes a day. I read 2-4 hours a day, and I charge mine about once a week. Airplane mode helps. Still great, just be aware. 2) Do not be like me and get this thinking you are going to read PDFs on it. It does support PDFs, but trust me, its not going to work out. Other than those two things, I love my Kindle!  K.G.

I have all the kindle models since 7th Gen, which still travels with me as back up. Love my Oasis, and my Paperwhite with all the bells and whistles. Scrib has uses, however this little guy is fast becoming my favorite, so why? Size, its easy to hold, but more screen than I thought it would have. Weight, feels like nothing in your hand which makes reading in bed easy. Screen does not have the extra glass over the top, and to me seems like its a better picture, less glare maybe. I also like that this offsets the glass so when laid down face first glass is not on the table. Just got last week, and through 4 books on this kindle. Battery is at 73% on first charge to 100% the day it came in. Wireless has been on the whole time but have not left the house with it, still this little kindle has a powerful battery. Cant say I miss the auto light feature which I have been keeping turned off as it bugs me as it dims in bed. Can live without the amber lighting as well, however I do use that feature, but I have not really missed these extras this week. Its simple, small, lightweight. Update Kindle Users - This new model is just wonderful, travels with me everywhere its so small. This is smaller than my Gen 7 Paperwhite, with one hand operation made easy. I see no reason for my other models if you can live without the little extras this is for any new user or old timer like me that loves to read.  Thomas Roach

I love books: I love the weight of them, the smell of them, the tactile experience of holding them. So it never occurred to me to want a kindle, because,,, books. This Prime Day, I asked some colleagues who are booklovers with Kindles if they thought it was a waste to get a kindle, and their responses were so overwhelmingly positive toward the kindle, I decided to try it. Im so glad I did! I have a chronic neurological and joint disease, that robbed me of reading entirely for the first year I had it, and even now I have trouble holding books for any length of time, and reading a book, or on my phone or iPad, for an hour can cause my eyes to go blurry/spotty, or cause a debilitating migraine. What a gift to my hands, to have this lightweight beauty! What a gift to my eyes to be able to adjust the lighting and font size. This is better for my current body than books, and reading on my kindle app on the iPhone or iPad doesnt hold a candle to reading on an actual kindle, in terms of ease on the brain, eyes, and joints. So glad I listened to my collleagues!  A.B.Reader

Id go as far as saying the Kindle is arguably the most underrated invention of the early 21st century. But youre here for the review, so As for why I like THIS Kindle so much, well, I love the fact that all of the most important features have finally trickled down to the base model. I can afford to buy any Kindle I want and I usually buy one of the middle or high-end Kindles. This one was actually replacing an older Paperwhite, but I wanted to give the base model a try since it checked all the right boxes, aside from color temperature adjustment. The fact that all the best features are present on the base model now makes me feel better about Kindles and Amazon in general honestly. My first Kindle was $399, so I love the fact that this one is so affordable and within reach of a lot more people now. This Kindle also gets the fastest SoC (microprocessor) that the newest Kindles have. That means its as fast, or faster than any of the Kindle models. Its finally got a generous amount of memory for anyone with anything but the biggest book collection. Ill never fill it up Im sure. Its even got the higher dpi (resolution) Paperwhite screen now, so youre no longer penalized with pixelated fonts or less contrast for buying the entry-level model and I LOVE that. One of my favorite features, though, is that its super small and light, which I really love. Its the smallest, lightest, most pocketable Kindle theres ever been. Thats a nice feature that makes you more likely to take it with you everywhere. []  Sparky  (This review has been edited for length. Read the full review .)
