GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson told ABC News Sunday that he would certainly be willing to give hip-hop star Kanye West a chance as president of the United States.

The entertainer announced his intentions to run for president in 2020 at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, as he accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award . Carson told ABC that he is impressed with Wests business acumen after having a recent conversation with the entertainer.

"I did have an opportunity to talk with him," Carson told ABC News. "I was extremely impressed with his business acumen. He knows a lot about business. I talked to him about the possibility of maybe himself and some of the other people in pop culture doing some music that might be uplifting, that might give young women a sense of their value and young men a sense of responsibility. I think it could be a tremendous thing in our society."

West has also expressed deep adoration for the retired neurosurgeon. As soon as I heard Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like this is the most brilliant guy , West said in a September interview with Vanity Fair.
