Bloomberg Media CEO Justin Smith announced Tuesday that the company has hired M. Scott Havens as its global head of digital. Havens, the former senior vice president of digital at Time Inc., will begin his new role at Bloomberg on Nov. 16.

Scott is a digital pioneer and innovator with deep expertise in the business and financial digital media space, Smith said in a statement. He has transformed traditional media organizations into digital powerhouses, and has created new category-transforming brands and business models. At Bloomberg, Scott will build on our efforts to create the most influential global digital platform for business and financial leaders.

Havens will be responsible for the overall digital strategy of the company and will report directly to Smith, whom he previously worked with at Atlantic Media. Bloomberg Media includes Bloomberg Businessweek magazine, Bloomberg TV and the Bloomberg Business website, which launched in January.

"I am thrilled about the opportunity to partner with Justin and the amazing team at Bloomberg Media, and am eager to help accelerate the enviable digital progress that has been made under his stewardship, Havens said in a statement.
