Democratic Senator Questions If Trump Is OK After Yet Another Onstage Flub

Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii wondered "if theres something actually going on" with the former president.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) questioned Donald Trump s mental fitness after the former president got muddled at a campaign event Tuesday, adding to a recent string of gaffes and word jumbles .

While speaking in Milwaukee, Trump mentioned the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, claiming he was basically trying to kill me. It appears Trump was actually referring to recently reported assassination threats from Iran .

I think its reasonable to watch this clip, add the withdrawal from a 60 minutes interview, and wonder if theres something actually going on, Schatz posted Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter. I dont know- maybe hes fine, but its not a wacky or nasty thing to inquire about.

CBS News 60 Minutes announced Tuesday that the Republican nominee had backed out of an interview on the program after initially agreeing to it. His opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris , still intends to appear, the program said.

Trump is also refusing to appear for another debate against Harris after he was widely considered to be the loser of the first showdown against the vice president Sept. 10. Trump repeatedly went off-script, telling lie after lie and repeatedly taking Harris bait.

Since President Joe Biden s withdrawal from the 2024 race, Trump critics have called for more scrutiny of the former presidents age and mental acuity a key issue in the original matchup that ultimately led to Bidens exit. Trump, 78, is now the oldest presidential nominee in history.
