Hair Highlights Can Look Awkward As These 38 Celebrities Prove (PHOTOS)

When done well, highlights add depth to the hair , create texture and the illusion of a natural sun-kissed color . When done badly, they appear as though you had too much fun with a box of at-home hair color.

In the early 2000s, I thought Kelly Clarkson's hair was major! And it was. She had the "Rachel" flip and a voluminous center part . However, the most appealing detail were the chunky, streaky, blonde highlights on her dark brown hair. Fortunately, my mom talked me out of getting highlights la Kelly , or my middle school photographs would look like the celebrities in the pictures below.
