One of the best things about New York is the people you may run into at any given moment. For instance, we just met Cathrine Wallenius Abramowski, a grad student who's on holiday from Australia. She just finished journalism school and will be moving back to the her native Norway to find a job, she told us.

We initially stopped her because we were feeling her deep burgundy lip and sleek top knot . As it turns out she shares our obsession with coconut oil .

"I use it to soften my hair rather than using conditioners. I prefer to use natural products," Wallenius Abramowski said. "I usually put two or three tablespoons in my really thick hair and massage my scalp with it, as well as the ends. And sometimes I'll wait an hour or two or even overnight and then wash it out. It gives my hair a really great shine ."
