A shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Saturday has left six people wounded, local police told Tennessee news station WTVC .
Police said the gunshot victims, who were rushed to the hospital, were teenagers or in their early 20s. Two people suffered life-threatening injuries.
Some of the victims werent directly involved in the exchange of gunfire among multiple parties, police told WTVC.
One person was detained shortly after the shooting.
The shooting reportedly occurred on Cherry Street in Chattanoogas downtown area.
National attention has turned toward gun violence after several mass shootings in the U.S., including the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead last week.
