Engineers in China finally took their innovative elevated bus for a test spin in Hebei province this week.
As the photos below show, the bus is designed to straddle roadways, allowing smaller vehicles to pass underneath.
The electric-powered “Transit Elevated Bus ,” or TEB, can hold up to 300 passengers, the BBC reports. It is 72 feet long and 25 feet wide.
While this was merely a test run, the concept has already sparked interest in Brazil, France, India and Indonesia, China’s Xinhua News reported.
The bus is expected to reach speeds of 40 miles per hour , according to TechCrunch.
