Dad's Creative Notes Offer Hilarious Excuses For His Kids' Tardiness

Dad humor FTW!

Utah dad Seth King knows the struggle of getting your kids up and off to school on time every morning.

Because the routine doesn't always go according to plan, the father of five often finds himself writing tardiness excuse notes, which his children's school requires from late students. To break up the banality, King decided to "have a little more fun with the writing exercise."

The dad writes hilarious, convoluted and at times fantasy-inspired notes, which he posts on his popular Instagram account @latenotes . The notes present creative excuses for 15-year-old Isabella, 13-year-old Carson, 10-year-old Sophia, 6-year-old Nolan and even 3-year-old Liam.

King told The Huffington Post that he started writing his unique excuse notes a couple of years ago but only started documenting them on social media last year.

"I hoped that this new late note style would motivate my then middle school teenagers to make a greater effort to minimize/eliminate their teenage tardiness tendency," he said, adding, "I want them to know that life is hard and decisions have consequences. But above all their parents love them, they're cared for, we have their back, and it's important to smile, laugh, and always look on the bright side."

King says his inventive notes have provided a good incentive for his oldest daughter Isabella to be more punctual, as she finds them a tad embarrassing. As for the school administration, however, the dad says they enjoy his creativity.

"I have had a few phone calls/texts asking if I 'really wrote (this) note,'" King told HuffPost, adding, "The attendance office at my daughter's middle school looked forward to them when they received them. I think for the most part it brightens their day, which is the goal."

Keep scrolling and visit King's Instagram to look at his excuse notes. Based on the number of notes he's written, his kids may be giving Travis Birkenstock a run for his money  in the tardiness department.
