We all need help maintaining our personal spiritual practice. We hope that these Daily Meditations , prayers and mindful awareness exercises can be part of bringing spirituality alive in your life.
Today's meditation features a poem by 12th century female Hindu poet Mahadeviyakka, included in The Little Book of Prayers . Her piece is a reminder that we all lose our way at times, but we may still recover the path.
Cut through, O lord,
my heart's greed,
and show me
your way out.
O lord white as jasmine.
After this body has known my lord
who cares if it feeds
a dog
or soaks up water?
Like an elephant
lost from his herd
suddenly captured,
remembering his mountains,
his Vindhyas,
I remember.
O lord white as jasmine
show me
your ways.
Call me: Child, come here,
come this way.
