Looks like Mary-Kate and Ashley may have some competition in the "Most Stylish Sisters" department.

Although the Olsen twins were recently crowned Vogue's "Best Dressed," Dakota and Elle Fanning star on W's December cover dripping with high-fashion glamour.

Shot by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Lori Goldstein, the sisters are shown bathing in the warm glow of their young but rising superstardom. The end-of-the-year cover, after all, caps off a successful 12 months for the siblings.

17-year-old Dakota is deftly transitioning from child star into a young adult actress with roles in "Twilight" and "The Runaways."

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Elle earned accolades for her role in "Somewhere"... and immediately nabbed the title of Fashion's Newest Darling, with prime seating at the best fashion shows and an ad campaign .

Yet Elle and Dakota weren't always so sleek and stylish -- before their rise to fame, the Fanning girls were just, well, little girls, albeit absolutely adorable ones. Take a look below at the Fannings' evolution from grinning tykes to style stars.
