After Marie Yovanovitch, the ousted U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, testified in the impeachment inquiry on Friday, a former White House adviser said, this has to be the worst day of the presidency so far for Donald Trump .
CNN political analyst David Gergen , who served under Republican Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and Democratic President Bill Clinton, appeared on Anderson Cooper 360, and called Yovanovitchs testimony graphic and gripping . Gergen also brought up the closed-door deposition of State Department official David Holmes, in which the diplomat said he overheard U.S Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland discussing investigations on the phone with Trump.
Cooper had earlier suggested that Sondland would probably be a prime candidate to be next in line to be thrown under the bus by the president.
I think the president will wait patiently to see what he says and then decide, Gergen replied.
