Everybody Loved The DNC's DJ-Led Roll Call Full Of Bangers

Democrats turned the calling of party delegates across the country into a huge party on the second day of the Democratic National Convention.

The hottest club in America on Tuesday night may have been the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

It had everything: a DJ spinning banger after banger, a surprise cameo by rapper Lil Jon, celebrities, cool lighting, glowing concert wristbands and thousands of cheering delegates screaming at the top of their lungs, creating a raucous vibe never before seen at a political convention.

Ceremonial roll call votes at conventions can often be monotonous, but Democrats turned the calling of party delegates across the country into a huge party with themed songs for each state, a program that drew rave bipartisan reviews.

I gotta say, the DJ thing is pretty brilliant, Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, a conservative-leaning outlet, wrote in a social media post

Its funny how if you put political dorky earnestness to wedding-DJ music, it makes it somehow endearing, he added.

John Podhoretz, editor of the conservative outlet Commentary, called the addition of a DJ to the convention program genius .

Truth to tell, when things are full of energy, theres no place more sheerly enjoyable than the floor of a political convention, whether you like or hate the partys politics, he added

Many delegations picked state-appropriate music to accompany their portion of the roll call. Alabama picked (of course) Lynyrd Skynyrds Sweet Home, Alabama, California picked California Love by Tupac Shakur, Florida chose Wont Back Down by Florida native Tom Petty, Michigan went with Lose Yourself by Detroit rapper Eminem, and Massachusetts went with (what else) Im Shipping Up to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys.

But it was Georgias delegation that won the night by bringing out Lil Jon to bring down the house with Turn Down For What? The rapper appeared in the stands of the United Center and performed as he walked toward the rest of the state delegation.

The rapper then launched into a quick rendition of his song Get Low, replacing the lyrics To the windows, to the walls with VP Harris, Governor Walz, referring to Harris vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

More surprises were in store on Tuesday, even though they sadly didnt involve a rumored appearance by Beyonc. Actor Sean Astin, who starred in the Notre Dame football classic Rudy, appeared during the roll call for Indianas delegation, eliciting chants of Rudy from the audience. Director and writer Spike Lee also appeared in a cameo to introduce New Yorks delegation while Jay Zs Empire State of Mind blasted through the arena.

Harris also made a surprise appearance live via television from her rally at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, where former President Donald Trump had accepted the GOP presidential nomination just weeks earlier, a huge flex by the newly energized Democratic Party .

To everyone in Chicago and across America, thank you, Harris told the crowd. And youre going to hear from our wonderful second gentleman shortly. Ill see you in two days, Chicago.

Harris campaign said  more than 15,000 people came to her rally in Wisconsin, not to mention the thousands gathered to watch the program in Chicago.

This is diabolical. Filling both the RNC and DNC venues on the same night, tweeted one user  on X.
