President Donald Trump has stood firmly behind Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh despite sexual assault allegations .
Rather than express sympathy for the accuser, Trump on Tuesday said he feels “so badly” for Kavanaugh, who he called a “great gentleman .”
“I feel terribly for him; for his wife, who is an incredible, lovely woman; and for his beautiful young daughters,” Trump said. “I feel terribly for them.”
As MSNBC ’S Katy Tur pointed out, Trump has a history of rushing to the defense of men accused of assault, abuse, misconduct and more, standing by Corey Lewandowski , Roger Ailes , Roy Moore and Rob Porter . And he’s often used similar words to defend them.
