We didn't realize it until we saw it, but we've really never seen Emma Stone like this before.
For the big September issue of Interview , Stone gets much darker than usual for a moody, vaguely threatening photo shoot. Styled by Karl Templer and snapped by Mikael Jansson, Stone wipes her cheery smile away in favor of high-fashion scowls and some dark duds: Balenciaga, Christopher Kane, Jil Sander, Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and the like. For her cover look, she's encased in a rather uncomfortable-looking Chanel color and spiky Eddie Borgo earrings. She even lights up a cigarette, so we all know it's that kind of shoot.
It's a drastically different look for Emma, who's usually styled somewhere between "proper young lady" (see: Teen Vogue ) and "sassy Hollywood bombshell" (see: Vanity Fair ). This is sexy on a leather-wearing, slicked-hair, cigarette-smoking level -- and we're kinda into it.
