10 Fall 2018 Beauty Trends To Try This Season

The fall runways gave us everything from colored eyelashes to faces full of glitter.

Now that fall is (almost) officially here, it’s time to test out the season’s biggest beauty trends.

We first saw these trends in February, when designers showcased their fall/winter 2018/2019 collections. (Yes, we know the fashion calendar is confusing.) The beauty looks ranged from classic, like the bold red lips seen at Brandon Maxwell and Cushnie et Ochs (now simply Cushnie), to out of the ordinary, like a face full of glitter at Giambattista Valli.

We saw brightly colored eyelashes, pink and purple eye shadow and even crystal-encrusted eyelids that’ll be perfect for all your holiday parties. When it came to hair, simple and straight-but-textured styles with middle parts reigned supreme at Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, but volume was king at Miu Miu and Ashish.

Below are 10 standout trends we saw on the fall/winter runways:

Nothing says classic beauty quite like a red lip. On the runways, we saw a number of different shades, like the deep rusty red at Cushnie et Ochs, or the bright poppy at Brandon Maxwell.

The middle part has proved its staying power of the years, and for fall, it's still going strong. We saw it on the runways at Tommy Hilfiger, Versace and Michael Kors, to name a few.

Gilded Lids

This fall, it's time to go for gold with your eye makeup. At Akris, we saw models strut down the runway with what looked like gold leafing on their eyelids, while at Pamella Roland, the look was a sultry golden smoky eye. At Lutz, models sported gold liner on their lower lids, and at Ulla Johnson, we saw sparkly gold line the top lids.

Season after season, the "no makeup" makeup look makes an appearance. For fall 2018, we saw it on the runways at Chanel, Alexander Wang and Off-White, among others.

If you love drama, the dark-rimmed eye look is for you. At Alice and Olivia, designer Stacy Bendet's designs were paired with heavily rimmed and glittered eyes, while at Carolina Herrera the look was more smoky.

Pink And Purple

Pink eye makeup has been very popular for a while now, and it looks like the trend isn't going anywhere for the coming fall and winter months. This time, though, it gets an update with the addition of some purple shadow, as seen on the runways at Christian Siriano, Peter Pilotto and Anna Sui.

Aside from the pink and purple combo, we pretty much saw makeup looks done with all shades of the rainbow. At Dries Van Noten, models sported brightly colored eyelashes, while at Prada, eyelids were painted with colorful (and embellished) winged eyeliner.

Big Bouffants

Fall 2018's big bouffant isn't for the faint of heart, but if you like making a statement with your hair, it's perfect. The vintage-inspired do took on new heights at Ashish and Miu Miu, and we're here for it.

Get Glittered

The trend was taken to an extreme at Giambattista Valli, where models appeared with faces totally covered in glitter, while on the opposite end of the spectrum, we saw models at Oscar de la Renta with just the lightest touch of glitter dusted over their eyelids. At Kate Spade, the trend was a little more fun, with models sporting small crystals on their lids in place of shadow. Kesha would most definitely approve.

Glamour Waves

The glamour waves made popular by Old Hollywood starlets showed up on the runways at Temperley London and Tadashi Shoji. It's the perfect style for your fancy holiday parties to come.
