As the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani is one of the more outspoken editors in the business.
She's made statements, both personally and through her magazine, on race , body image , eating disorders and assorted topics from "Jersey Shore" to men in fashion .
So of course the editor also sounded off on the dismissal of John Galliano from Christian Dior. Back in February, Sozzani condemned the designer's actions , saying, "I'm so against anyone that could say something anti-Semitic, against religion....You can say, 'You're a bitch,' 'You're terrible,' but nothing about religion."
Now Franca's seem to come around entirely, telling the Daily Beast: "Hire back John Galliano."
Look. I understand their point of view [at Dior]. I understand they couldnt just say, Bad boy! We forgive you! Come back! But its really a pity. And I will never believe he believed what he said. I think he was drunk and alone in a bar. When people go crazy, they go crazy. Its a human case, its not political or religious. He didnt kill anyone!
Considering Galliano has officially been convicted for his crimes (insult on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion) and the rumors suggesting Marc Jacobs will bag Dior's top job , we think Sozzani may end up disappointed.
