President Barack Obama has long established that he was born in Hawaii and is a Christian, yet the so-called "birthers" continue to dispute both of these facts.
How do the GOP candidates fare when they encounter birther nonsense? We rated their responses. Here's a selection:
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: "He's an American; he's a Christian."
Neurosurgeon Ben Carson: "I don't believe that that is true, that he was born somewhere else."
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.): "He was born in the United States; he's a Christian. He is president of the United States for the next year and a half, and we're going to move on."
Fortunately, most of the GOP candidates can answer correctly when faced with these "birther" questions -- except for one of them .
