Three more people are testifying Wednesday during a public hearing in the impeachment investigation into President Donald Trump , beginning with devastating testimony from his European Union ambassador, Gordon Sondland.
Sondland kicked things off Wednesday morning with a bombshell opening statement that everyone knew Trumps desires and requirements on Ukraine. We followed the presidents orders, he said.
Members of this committee have frequently framed these complicated issues in the form of a simple question: Was there a quid pro quo? Sondlands prepared remarks said. As I testified previously, with regard to the requested White House call and White House meeting, the answer is yes.
He argued that he and several other Trump administration officials did not want to work with Trumps attorney Rudy Giuliani, but did so at the express direction of the president.
