This Gorgeous 89-Year-Old Grandma Stole The Show As A Bridesmaid

Youre only as old as you feel and I feel young today."

You're never too old to be a bridesmaid -- just ask bride Christine Quinn's  89-year-old grandma Betty Govern, a.k.a. Nana Betty.

At Christine's May 2 wedding to Patrick Quinn (coincidentally the couple shares the same surname!) in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, Nana Betty stood by her granddaughter's side in a dusty purple dress with a bouquet in hand.

“You’re only as old as you feel and I feel young today," Nana Betty said on the wedding day, according to the bride.

Christine told The Huffington Post that the decision to ask her grandma to be in the bridal party was a no-brainer; She considers Nana Betty one of her best friends.

"While she doesn’t live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible," she said. "She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her."

Just a few months before the wedding, Christine asked Nana Betty to be a bridesmaid "so she didn’t have too much time to think about it." The bride never expected her to actually say "yes" because her grandma is modest and doesn't enjoy being the center of attention.

"She asked me about 10 times, 'Are you sure?' and 'Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Christine told HuffPost. "A few times she even said 'All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?' Obviously Nana is beautiful too. Just look at those photos!"

Ultimately, Nana Betty agreed to participate. And when the wedding day came, she was the life of the party.

"She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day," Christine said.

"Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of 'going home to rest' but did not tell my mom (her daughter)," the bride said. "She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband’s grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing."
