"A man who dares to waste one hour of life has not discovered the value of life" -- Charles Darwin

Do you ever feel as if life is passing by way too quickly? That you have no idea where the day went let alone the month, year or decade?

Do you fondly recall nostalgic summers past that seemed to span an eternity? Begrudged that those hot, lazy sun kissed days are now replaced with crazy work schedules and out of control home-life demands?

There's a good chance that you're so busy thinking about what needs to be done or stressing about time itself that you're missing out on crucial moments.

Sound familiar? I know you stress about time, I know this because we all do.

The normal, natural state of all our minds is constantly busy. It chatters incessantly, bouncing from thought to thought, preparing for the future and reliving the past. We rarely stop to see the present.

If we don't learn to stop the robot like incessant racing of our minds, which renders us completely unconscious these foggy moments can fill up most of our lives.

But how do I slow down time?

I know the answer, and that's what this article is going to teach you; a simple method to slow it all down.

You may have experienced the answer already. Have you ever been rendered speechless by a crimson sunset, relaxing to the rhythm of the lapping waves and sensing the cool sand beneath you? For a brief moment the whole world seems to stand still.

This is a state of mind at the heart of all Buddhist teachings called 'mindfulness.' We've all experienced it but have likely not been able to find the words to describe how incredible this state of mind feels.

What if I told you that you can experience this every day? What if I told you that with a bit of training you could enter this state of mind anytime you wanted?

The answer is very simple but it will take a little work to implement. But since we're all about change around here, let's get to it.

It's changing the way you pay attention.

By reining in your mind in you can choose where you hold your attention. Bring a present awareness into all actions, thoughts and activities. Taste the sourness of an apple, I mean really taste it, feel the bitterness on your tongue, play with the texture and express gratitude.

Slow down and awaken your senses, allow the feelings of love, gratitude, awe and joy to grow inside of you.

Ancient wisdom and modern psychology both tell us that mindfulness will alter your perception of time. A moment-to-moment awareness will slow down time. If you don't believe me, then try it for yourself. See 10 steps to mindfulness.

You have to remind yourself over and over to be aware.

You have to remind yourself to stop and breath.

You need to remind yourself -- this is my life right now.

Your life will never stand completely still -- life is in a constant state of change, but you can slow down long enough to savor the endless connection of moments that are your life.

Mindfulness is about wakefulness, so wake up and start living.
