Moments after Donald Trump announced Monday that Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) would be his running mate in this years presidential election, people on social media sprung into action.
Although the former president claimed on his Truth Social platform that Vance was the person best suited to assume the position, the senator also has a considerable history of making negative statements about Trump , something that folks on X, formerly Twitter, were happy to point out. (Vance has since said he was wrong about Trump.)
Plenty of people also listed other reasons they were concerned about Vance, including his record on abortion, the Jan. 6 insurrection and authoritarian principles in general .
