A pair of John Lennon's "granny" sunglasses have been snapped up at auction by a British collector.

Auction organisers have refused to divulge how much the gold-rimmed glasses went for but they were expected to fetch 1 million.

Lennon wore them on one of the last Beatles concerts during the band's 1966 tour of Japan.
