Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers Talks About His Least Favorite Ice Cream Topping

During a recent Swiffer and Mr. Clean event, Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers was smiling, socializing and erm Swiffering, right beside pop star and mom Ashlee Simpson. Ok the tidying up wasn’t so weird... he was demonstrating how to maintain a clean slate at home. And there’s no question: we all know how messy ice cream can be. Between cleaning the floor and snacking on some birthday cake flavored popcorn, we chatted with the HGTV star. Read on for what he had to say about ice cream toppings and scoop shops.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor, and why?

I have two that I equally adore, Chocolate Chip Mint and Oreo Cookie.

Are you brand specific, or do you have a favorite ice cream shop?

I actually love gelato  not brand specific  but I do love gelato. It sounds pretentious when people say that, but I source out ice cream places wherever I go.

What’s a favorite that you’ve been to?

I’ve been to so many different cities that I don’t know the names of all the places I go to. I’m not really like people who are addicted to Ben & Jerry’s or Haagen-Dazs. It’s more the obscure local deli places that I love.

Do you have a favorite topping?

The one thing I know not to put on it is gummy bears, because when they get cold, they get so chewy they’re like leather. So, don’t put gummy bears on it! But I love actual fruit and sometimes that chocolate syrup that hardens.
