Jose Altuve Knocks One Out Of The Park For Young Cancer Patient

No pressure, right?

A young cancer patient named Dillon asked Astros second baseman Jose Altuve to hit a home run for him during Thursday's game, the New York Daily News reported. Altuve obliged as quickly as possible, swatting a leadoff homer in a 6-3 loss to the Mariners.

Altuve made good on a promise of sorts that has the stuff of legend attached to it. Babe Ruth reportedly promised a boy in the hospital that he would hit a home run for him in Game 4 of the 1926 World Series, and blasted three that day.

As for Altuve's feat, the young Astros star told MLB.com, "I really like the kid. He was really happy to be here. I hope God blesses him for what he's been through right now."

Before the game, the boy originally asked Altuve for a broken bat from the game, but Altuve signed a new one for him instead. Then, as Alutuve told MLB.com, Dillon upped his request to "OK, now you're going to hit a homer."

The player told Dillon not to be disappointed if he didn't. Turns out that wasn't necessary.

"As soon as I hit the home run and I got to second base, I remembered what he said," Altuve said.
