Although she was born in St. Louis, Missouri, Josephine Baker became famous after she moved to Paris in the 1920s. Celebrated for her role in the film "Zouzou," and her work involving civil rights , the singer/actress/dancer is perhaps best known for dancing while wearing a skirt made out of artificial bananas .
She may not be wearing a fruit-tastic skirt in the photo below from the '20s, but we're still in love with her simple look. Baker's white cut out dress , minimalist strappy sandals and dark lips add up to a perfect look we still want to copy today.
