Kate Middleton and Katie Holmes have more in common than just having the same name, being gorgeous brunettes and having mega-famous husbands. (Okay, wow, so they have a ton in common already.)

Middleton, 29, and Holmes, 32, are both embracing sheer black tights.

Kate and Wills were out tonight in England to pay a visit to the homeless charity Centrepoint. The Duchess paired her green Ralph Lauren turtleneck dress with a black belt, black wedge boots and those sheer black stockings -- a twist on her famous nude pantyhose look.

And we know what's coming next after these pics of Catherine holding her stomach: another wave of baby bump rumors.

And back on this side of the pond, Katie Holmes wrapped up her week-long birthday trip in New York last night, heading to a Manhattan helioport with Tom Cruise and Suri. Holmes looked comfy and casual in a gray skirt, black and white top and black flats, paired with, yep, those sheer tights.

Katie also wore the translucent tights the night before, to attend to the premiere of Cruise's movie "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol."

The Holmes/Duchess worlds collide ever further: Mrs. Tom Cruise even praised Kate Middleton's style on the record this June, telling The Mirror:

"I love both [Kate's and Pippa's] style and I think they are incredible. I'm so happy for Kate -- I wish them the best!"

It's a battle of the sheer hose; or, perhaps just the start of the next budding legwear trend.

Check out photos of both the Duchess and Katie Holmes below.
