After suffering a mini-stroke last week , Kim Zolciak has been forced to officially withdraw  herself from "Dancing with the Stars," after she was unable to travel to Los Angeles to perform. The former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star explained via Skype on Monday's episode that she had not received clearance to fly  from her doctor following her transient ischemic attack  (TIA or mini-stroke).

According to the rules of the competition, which were explained by host Tom Bergeron, contestants must be disqualified "in the instance of illness or other health-related matters affecting their ability to participate." The show also shared a tweet  stating Zolciak's health "is the most important thing."

The reality star expressed her sadness over being disqualified with a video on Instagram.

"I practiced for hours Saturday I was so excited to be there tonight! I just needed a few more days and then I'm cleared to fly! #ImReallySad#ImStrong," she wrote.

"Dancing with the Stars" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
