Everybody’s walking around like its totally normal that Lady Gaga is dropping the first single off her new album this week, while we’re over here like:
On Tuesday, Gaga tweeted that “Perfect Illusion” will be available Sept. 9 (!) alongside the cover art for the single. In the simple shot, a far cry from some of the singer’s more **cough** ambitious covers , a dressed-down Gaga is captured mid-jump, wearing a simple black T-shirt and jean short cutoffs.
The look could signal a rock influence on the new album, hopefully in the same vein as (in our humble opinion) her best song, “You & I.”
The Golden Globe winner also posted an Instagram collage on her account the same day with lyrics presumably lifted from “Perfect Illusion,” reading, “I don’t need eyes to see / I felt you touchin’ me / High like amphetamine / Maybe you’re just a dream.”
Alongside the handwritten words a Gaga fan somewhere is currently tattooing on their body are black-and-white shots of the singer looking retro ‘50s chic in the recording studio.
And now your obligatory “Yaasss, Gaga” reaction:
