Rachel Modica, Mechanical Engineer, Shares Secret To Wearing Matte Lip Color

We love matte lip color for many a reason: It's sleek, a little edgy ... it just feels polished. But it's also, admittedly, not the easiest to wear.

Layering on lip balm beforehand goes without saying, but there's another measure that will extend your matte look: a DIY lip scrub made from Vaseline and sugar, as we learned from Rachel Modica, a mechanical engineer.

"It's perfect to do the night before you want to wear a bold color," she told us. "It softens and smoothes them so the color goes on nicely, especially if you love wearing matte colors like I do!"
