Michael Steele Rips Marjorie Taylor Greene For Calling A Stepmother 'Not A Mother'

Michael Steele  is calling on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to “shut the you-know-what up” after she referred to a union leader and stepparent as “not a mother” this week.

During a Friday appearance on MSNBC , the former Republican National Committee chair slammed Greene for remarks  she made about Randi Weingarten , the president of the American Federation of Teachers, at a House subcommittee  hearing earlier this week.

“I’ve debated Randi. We’ve had our skirmishes. I’ve skirmished with teachers unions here in Maryland. But I would never look at her and say, ‘Well, you’re unfit to have this discussion ... because you’re not a mother,’” Steele said.

He then noted how Greene’s language impacted him on a more personal level.

“It just struck such a raw nerve for me as an adopted child to think that Marjorie Taylor Greene could look at my mother and say she’s not a mother,” Steele said. “Motherhood is something that comes from the heart. It’s something you do. It’s an expression of love.”

Elsewhere in the program, Steele sent a faith-based message to Greene over her comment.

“You remember that little boy named Jesus? Well, his daddy was a stepdad,” Steele said.

Weingarten, who appeared alongside Steele on MSNBC and is openly gay, described Greene’s language as “vile” and “homophobic.”

Their criticism adds to the backlash that the Georgian has faced for her remarks this week and for similar ones in the past. In July, Greene referred to nonbiological parents as “fake mom and fake dad.”
