Michele Bachmann (R-MN) was glittered by a gay rights activist as she left the stage at the conservative RightOnline conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota Saturday.

You can run, but you cannot hide! Keep your hate out of our Constitution! shouted Rachel E. B. Lang, who threw glitter at Bachmann but did not succeed in hitting her. Get Equal, a California-based gay rights group, cited Bachmann's support for a proposed ban on same-sex marriage in Minnesota and history of anti-gay rhetoric" as the reasons for the stunt.

Get Equal said in a press release that Lang's words were a reference to to the conservative You Can Run But You Cannot Hide ministry for which Bachmann has helped raise money.

"As the proud daughter of a lesbian mom living in the state of Minnesota, I know first hand how harmful Micheles anti-gay rhetoric and policy positions can be," Lang said in a statement to COLAGE: People with a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Queer Parent.

Bachmann is not the first GOP presidential candidate to be glittered. On Thursday, representatives from the groups Reproductive Rights and CODEPINK showered former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty with pink confetti at a book signing for his memoir in San Francisco.

Newt Gingrich was similarly hit with glitter at a book signing back in May.

This article has been updated to reflect Lang's statement to COLAGE.
