Mitt Romney Clarifies Top Adviser's Etch A Sketch Gaffe

ARBUTUS, Md. -- Following a town hall Wednesday in Arbutus, Md., Mitt Romney clarified comments made earlier in the day by his top adviser Eric Fehrnstrom, who said that Rommey could be reset "like an Etch a Sketch."

"Organizationally, a general election campaign takes on a different profile. The issues I'm running on will be exactly the same," he said, denying that Fehrnstrom had implied any forthcoming changes in positions if Romney wins the nomination and has to appeal to a wider audience in the fall.

"I'm running as a conservative Republican, I was a conservative Republican governor, I'll be running as a conservative Republican," he told reporters.

Romney walked away after one question, despite efforts of reporters to ask more, saying before he left the room that the brief session had just been "a chance to respond to a question I didn't get a chance to respond to."
