"Nothing enhances a beautiful bone structure more than a cute short haircut," according to celebrity hairstylist Sascha Breuer , who styled Anne Hathaway's pixie while she promoted 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises." "Its feminine, alluring, classy and downright stunning."

He adds, "The crop visually summarizes much about this trend -- it's about short sides and an ever-so-slightly longer top and fringe, with the top and the sides blending perfectly. In essence, that makes the current pixie crop a comeback of the 1960s version of the haircut, then popularized by the likes of Mia Farrow."

Breuer's top tip to get the best out of your pixie haircut : Don't force this type of hair. Enjoy it. "Short haircuts are very low maintenance. The secret is not to over style. Just simply play with you hair to achieve texture -- twisting, scrunching, smoothing and defining individual sections," he says.
