Bravo has hired its first transgender "Real Housewives" cast member,  TMZ reports.

Sources told TMZ that Amiyah Scott will replace Atlanta housewife NeNe Leakes, who announced in June  that she wouldn't be returning for the popular reality TV show's eighth season.

A source close to the network confirmed to HuffPost that Scott, who is friends with some of the cast members, filmed with the show on Monday night. However, the source told HuffPost that no decisions have been made yet as the show is still in production.

Amiyah transitioned about 10 years ago , when she was 17, The Wrap reported. Her Twitter bio identifies her  as a model and makeup guru.

Scott's fans have already begun flooding her Twitter and Instagram  profiles with congratulations:

This has been a huge year for transgender actors.

"Orange Is The New Black" star Laverne Cox won a Daytime Emmy Award  in April for producing MTV and Logo's "The T Word," a documentary about trans youth. She was also named Glamour's Woman Of The Year  in 2014.

In May, Olympic track and field legend and "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star Caitlyn Jenner came out as transgender . Days later, Scott Turner Schofield became  the first transgender man to have a major role in a daytime soap opera.
