CK Karkhanis, Colorist, Reveals Secret To Long-Lasting Red Hair Color

When we passed by CK Karkhanis in Williamsburg recently, we knew we had to flag her down. Her reddish-orange hair and bright lipstick is admittedly one of of our favorite beauty pairings . Unsurprisingly, Karkhanis is a colorist at Sharon Dorram at Sally Hershberger Salon .

"I balayage very subtle highlights in my own hair for dimension and movement," she told us. "I use Sally Hershberger's keratin spray , then I glaze it with a reddish gloss. People often think balayage is just for blondes like Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker , but anyone can use this technique!"

To prolong her red hair color (which is notoriously difficult to maintain), she relies on Kerastase's Chroma Riche line : "I love the booster serum -- they're better than any conditioner on the market! It keeps your hair super shiny and restores it after highlights." And to get a little more mileage out of her other red, lip color that is, she swipes on Fresh's coral tinted balm . "I layer this on top of the lipstick to keep the moisture in."
