Kim Gordon Names 1 Pop Icon Shed Rather Listen To Over Taylor Swift

The Sonic Youth legend gave her two cents on the Cruel Summer singer when asked for her most controversial pop culture opinion.

Kim Gordon name-dropped Taylor Swift when asked for her most controversial pop culture opinion in an interview published earlier this week.

The Sonic Youth legend told The Guardian that although she doesnt know if its controversial, she declared shes not really a fan of the Folklore singer-songwriter.

I couldnt tell you what her music sounded like, actually, Gordon said. When it comes to pop icons, I would choose Billie Eilish .

While Gordon has admitted shes light on Swift facts, she told Wallpaper last year that she sensed the singers initial appeal is that she seems to be an approachable person.

So by writing lyrics about her ex-boyfriends, or break-ups, or whatever, [she] is her using vulnerability [in an intentional way], she told the magazine last August.

Gordon, in an interview with The Guardian back in February , said she was journalling just like Taylor Swift at the time when asked about her own lyrics.

But you know, Im not writing about sad things, Gordon noted.

Well I guess a little sad. There is something about that kind of writing thats powerful. Its something you can do right now.

The Sonic Youth rocker later weighed in on whether shed open for Swift, although she expressed uncertainty over whether her audience would like it.

It has to be a little bit of a fit, she said.

She continued, Even when Sonic Youth toured with Neil Young, it was really hard, seeing hippies sitting there giving you the finger. Also, I couldnt tell you what her music sounds like, but I was on a plane with all her fans recently on the way to Utah and they were all wearing merch. That I quite like. I think Id just take a sweatshirt.
