Dorian shared more.
When did you know when FilmStruck was really a success?
Jennifer Dorian: Once our service launched in November of 2016 and reviews started coming in. We saw comments like: Finally, a Netflix for movies, a cinephiles dream, and bye bye to other streaming services. We knew that our strategy of filling a unique void in the marketplace was accurate and meeting consumer demand. After only one year, we are thrilled by the reception.
In a saturated market of streaming services FilmStrucks concept is rather niche. Were you concerned about gaining traction?
Jennifer Dorian: According to our research, the arthouse streaming community has an addressable market of 12.5 million people. So thats plenty of room for traction. We would also love to see FilmStruck grow internationally and to expand to carry more genres of film in the future.
Who is the FilmStruck subscriber?
Jennifer Dorian: Our subscribers are serious film lovers, particularly those who love foreign, art house and independent films. Our subscribers appreciate the curated programmatic themes we provide along with hard-to-find films.
