Stephen Colbert Pounces On Trump Over His 'Weird' Way To Brag About Economy

"The Late Show" host joked that the GOP nominee had a "totally normal" approach to counting.

Stephen Colbert clowned Donald Trump on Thursday for his weird way of boasting about the economy during his administration.

We had the greatest economy in the history of our country four years ago, seven years ago, six years ago and five years ago, the former president falsely claimed at a campaign event in North Carolina on Wednesday.

Totally normal way to count, quipped The Late Show host.

It reminds me of that classic joke: Why was 10 afraid of seven? Because four, seven, six, five.

Colbert then turned his attention to Trumps remarks at a Georgia rally on Tuesday and noted that the GOP nominee made a strange confession to his supporters.

I find it very hard to sleep, I got so many ideas, Im thinkin all the time, Trump told the crowd.

Colbert broke out his impression of the former president.

I dont sleep, Im always, Im always, its true Im always thinkin at night on thoughts like  the ravens, why do they shriek outside my window, he said.

He continued, Do they laugh at me? Can they see my blackened soul? All the, all the creatures of the night disturb my slumber. The cats, the rats, the bats and worst of all the terrible owl. When I told him, Be gone, for I am Donald Trump , he turned to me with that baleful eye and he said, Oooh, and I screamed.
