Tim Walz Dropped 3 Names Probably No One Expected To Hear Mentioned Together

Vice President Kamala Harris has built a widespread coalition around her White House candidacy, the Minnesota Democrat said during Tuesday's vice presidential debate.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) cited three prominent figures in his closing statement for Tuesdays vice presidential debate that probably no one expected to hear mentioned in the same sentence.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee sought to highlight the unlikely mix of people that Vice President Kamala Harris candidacy has attracted, name-dropping progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Dick Cheney, who served as vice president in former President George W. Bushs Republican administration, and pop star Taylor Swift .

Im as surprised as anybody of this coalition that Kamala Harris has built, Walz said . From Bernie Sanders to Dick Cheney to Taylor Swift and a whole bunch of folks in between there. And they dont all agree on everything, but they are truly optimistic people.

Walz urged Americans to reject the agenda of former President Donald Trump and his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), and support Harris White House bid in November.

Sanders endorsed Harris after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race in July.

We must defeat Trump, elect VP @KamalaHarris, and create a government that works for all, not just the 1%, he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Meanwhile, Cheney announced he would vote for the Democratic candidate last month, following the lead of his daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), by emphasizing the threat former President Donald Trump poses to American democracy.

He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him, the elder Cheney said. As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Swift issued a statement declaring her support for the California Democrat shortly after the end of Septembers ABC News presidential debate, also praising Harris decision to go with Walz as her vice presidential pick.

I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a womans right to her own body for decades, Swift wrote.
