Harris Ties Trump To Mark Robinson After Bombshell Report On Porn Forum Comments: Live Updates

Read the latest updates on the 2024 election and all the details we know about the second attempted assassination of Trump.

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris  is drawing ties between former President Donald Trump and North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson, following a bombshell report revealing lewd and racist comments Robinson made on a porn website.

In a series of ad videos posted to X formerly Twitter the Harris campaign highlighted Trumps repeated praise of Robinson, whos now under fire for reportedly referring to himself as a Black Nazi in pseudonymous forum posts . In March, Trump endorsed Robinson  at a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, calling him better than civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

This is Martin Luther King on steroids, Trump said of Robinson  at the time.

Meanwhile, Trump argued this week that  rhetoric from President Joe Biden and Harris is causing me to be shot at, although the two Democrats have condemned violence in the wake of a second assassination attempt on Trumps life.

A man was arrested Sunday after Secret Service agents accompanying Trump during a round of golf spotted the muzzle of an assault rifle through the shrubbery by Trumps golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The FBI said the incident appeared to be an attempted assassination.

While posting about the news, Trump continued his anti-immigrant fearmongering after his running mate spread a conspiracy theory that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing local pets for food. Vance continued to promote that narrative even as it was debunked by multiple local officials.

Harris Recounts In Detail The Story Of Georgian Who Died From Lack Of Abortion Access

Harris spoke in detail Friday about Amanda Thurman, a woman who was unable to get an abortion in Georgia because of a ban imposed by the state following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

After traveling out of state for an abortion, the woman returned home to Georgia for additional care but was unable to receive it because, under the states abortion ban, her doctors could have faced up to a decade in prison for providing her care.

For 20 excruciating hours she waited as she deteriorated. And she reached such a critical state that the doctors finally operated, and it was too late and she died of sepsis, Harris said at a rally in Wisconsin. And recently medical experts determined that Ambers death was preventable.

So understand what a law like this means these kinds of laws under Trump abortion bans. It means doctors may have to wait until the patient is at deaths door before they take any action. Nobody wants that. What is he talking about?" she said.

Harris Calls Republicans Hypocrites In Powerful Speech On Abortion

Harris spoke at a rally in Atlanta, where she was surrounded by supporters holding Trust women signs and by placards reading, 1 in 3 women lives under a Trump abortion ban, a reference to states limiting reproductive health care since the Supreme Court repealed Roe v. Wade. Harris hosted the event in the wake of devastating reporting from ProPublica about two Georgia women, both Black mothers, who died because they did not receive proper medical treatment after using abortion pills.

Harris Cant Believe Project 2025 Architects Put It In Writing

Harris quipped that she cant believe what the creators of Project 2025 a far-right playbook spelling out what could happen if Trump is elected were willing to publish.

I cant believe they put Project 2025 in writing, Harris said to laughs from the audience at her Atlanta rally.

Among the recommendations in Project 2025 include sweeping abortion bans and firing thousands of government workers to replace them with Trump sycophants.

They literally put it in writing, they bound it, they handed it out, Harris said. They are simply out of their minds.

Harris: Abortion Bans Are A Health Care Crisis

At her Atlanta rally, Harris said Trump is responsible for the crises caused by nationwide abortion bans.

This is a health care crisis, and Donald Trump is the architect of this crisis, Harris said. He brags about overturning Roe v. Wade,

At a Fox News town hall earlier this year, Trump said he was proud to have overturned the Supreme Court case that enshrined the right to an abortion.

He is proud, proud that women are dying? Harris said. Proud that doctors and nurses can be thrown in prison for administering care? Proud that young women today have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers? How dare he."

Harris: Government, Trump Shouldnt Have Control Over Womens Bodies

Vice President Kamala Harris gave fiery remarks at an Atlanta, Georgia rally on Friday, saying that the government and GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump shouldnt have control over womens bodies.

The idea that someone who survives a crime of violence to their body a violation to their body would not have the right to make a decision about what happens to their body next? Harris said. Thats immoral."

Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Republican lawmakers have sought to impose sweeping abortion bans across the country, including in Georgia , where abortion is sharply restricted and a fetus is considered a person.

One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to know that the government should not be telling her what to do, Harris said. It should not be the government or Donald Trump telling her what to do with her body.

Doug Emhoff Hits Back After Trump Blames Jews For A Potential Election Loss

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff said Trump has once again fanned the flames of antisemitism after the former president said that Jews would be to blame if he loses his presidential election in November.

Emhoff, in a post on X Friday, said Trump was trafficking in tropes blaming and scapegoating Jews when he made the remarks Thursday night.

Any Jewish person who votes for her should have their head examined, Trump said during one of two events at which he spoke.

The Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss. Its only because of the Democrat hold, or curse, on you, he said.

This is dangerous and must be condemned, said Emhoff, who is Jewish. We will not be intimidated and will continue to live openly, proudly, and without fear as Jews.

Trump Used An Alarming Word And Most People Missed It

Last weekend, Trump posted another anti-immigrant screed to Truth Social. It would have been unremarkable at least, graded on the Trumpian curve of extreme xenophobia except for one word.

[We will] return Kamalas illegal migrants to their home countries (also known as remigration), he wrote. I will save our cities and towns in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and all across America.

Many people might have glossed over his use of remigration. White nationalists did not.

Harris Praises Taylor Swifts Endorsement Despite Being A 49ers Fan

In an interview with Wired , Harris said she was very proud to have the endorsement of pop superstar Taylor Swift.

She's an incredible artist," Harris said of Swift. "I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right.

Harris playfully pointed out that while Swift is dating Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, the vice presidents loyalty remains with the San Francisco 49ers.

But we were on different sides of the Super Bowl last year. I am a 49ers fan, but who's mad at anyone for being loyal to their team, right?

Nebraska GOP Might Take An Electoral Vote Away From Kamala Harris

With eight weeks to go until Election Day, Nebraska Republicans are considering passing a law to change how the state distributes its electoral votes in a bid to deny Harris any vote from the state.

Nebraska is one of two states, along with Maine, that does not allocate all of its electoral votes to the overall winner of the state. Instead, it provides two electoral votes for the statewide winner and then one vote for each of its three congressional districts.

New Harris Ad Emphasizes Ties Between Trump, Mark Robinson

The Harris campaign is wasting no time capitalizing on a bombshell CNN story about extensive and damning comments North Carolina GOP gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson apparently made on a porn forum between 2008 and 2012.

A new ad , released just a day after the report, features Trump and Robinson fawning over one another at various rallies.

I think youre better than Martin Luther King, Trump tells Robinson in one clip, unaware that in posts on the forum, Robinson once called MLK worse than a maggot, wished they would bring it (slavery) back, and referred to himself as a black Nazi.

In another clip, Trump says hes been with [Robinson] a lot. Ive gotten to know him and hes outstanding.

Other posts made by Robinson include a wistful recollection of the hours he spent as a teenager secretly peeping on women in public gym showers and an explainer of his appreciation for transgender pornography.

Donald Trump and Mark Robinson, a voiceover in the ad concludes. Both wrong for North Carolina.

Harris Says She Found Debate Against Trump Quite Enjoyable

Harris sat down with Wired for an episode of their "Autocomplete Interview" video series , where she discussed her experience debating Trump earlier this month, among a wide range of other topics.

That was quite enjoyable, Harris said. I enjoyed the debate. I think its very important for us to, in our democracy, create an opportunity for civil debate and disagreement about ideas and about policies. I think the debate showed that we have two very different visions for our country.

North Carolina Democrat Predicts Robinson Scandal Could Swing Presidential Race

Rep. Jeff Jackson (D-N.C.) offered his assessment on Friday of how the explosive CNN report detailing comments North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson allegedly made on a porn website will affect the 2024 elections in the state.

Normally, someone running for governor, even if they turned out to underperform, wouldnt be someone who would impact the rest of the ticket, Jackson told "CNN This Morning."

"But this isnt normal, Jackson, who is also running to be the states attorney general, said.

He added that most of the elections in North Carolina this season are basically 50-50 races," meaning that even if the Robinson news factored into the decision of a small fraction of voters, that could still swing a whole bunch of elections, including the presidential election."

First Lady Says Joe Biden Is Totally At Peace With Decision To Drop Out Of 2024 Race

First lady Jill Biden said both she and the president are totally at peace with his decision to drop out of the 2024 race.

In an interview with NBC News, Biden praised her husbands work, adding that he will miss serving the American people once his current term ends.

"Im just so used to seeing Joe work in government, and I think its always been a role that hes had and played, and I think hell miss it, but I think hes done a great job," she said.

Harris Campaign Hits Trump With Astonishing Reminders Of His Mark Robinson Praise

The Harris campaign sought to remind Trump of his praise for embattled North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson in a series of social media posts , after CNN unearthed past racist and lewd statements he allegedly made on a porn website years ago.

In March, Trump called Robinson better than civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

"This is Martin Luther King on steroids," Trump added.

Ex-Teamsters Leader Says Union Should Have Endorsed Harris

Jim Hoffa, a former longtime leader of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, said he disagreed with the union's decision to not endorse any candidate in the presidential election, calling it a "critical error and frankly, a failure of leadership" by the unions president, Sean OBrien.

"This election is too important for our union to not do its duty. We must take a stand for working Americans," Hoffa said in a statement . "There is only one candidate in this race that has supported working families and unions throughout their career, and that is Vice President Kamala Harris."

Kellyanne Conway Explains Why Trump Was Always Going To Pick Vance As His Running Mate

Kellyanne Conway said Trump would have still picked Vance as his running mate even if he knew Biden would drop out of the presidential race.

"He wanted Sen. Vance really all along," Conway told The Atlantic Festival.

"I think he always wanted somebody who he thinks is willing to go into enemy territory, the lions den on TV, because he had seen JD Vance on CNN, on MSNBC, on the three major networks, unafraid to talk about America First," she continued.

Separately, Conway said she's spoken to Trump about her concerns about his connection to far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, who has also insulted her daughter Claudia Conway.

"I didnt know this person, so when I learned more about her and what she was saying, including to my 19-year-old daughter its unacceptable," she said. "And I pushed back on that.

Harris Has A Warning For Anyone Planning To Break Into Her House

As Oprah Winfrey expressed her shock about Vice President Kamala Harris' admission during last week's presidential debate that she is a gun owner, Harris opened up a little more about why.

If somebody breaks into my house, theyre getting shot. Im sorry, Harris told Winfrey, as the candidate and the crowd started to laugh.

Yes, yes. I hear that, Winfrey responded.

Probably should not have said that, Harris added, gesturing with her hands in the air.

Surprise Poll Shows Colin Allred Leading Ted Cruz In Texas Senate Race

A new poll by Morning Consult has Democrat Colin Allred one point ahead of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in the Texas Senate race.

It's the only recent survey that's found Allred leading Cruz in deep-red Texas, one of several states where Democrats could really use a surprise victory if they hope to maintain control of the Senate . Morning Consult found similarly strong numbers for Vice President Kamala Harris in the survey, out this week, as well as for other Democrats down the ballot.

The Allred campaign has been hyping its momentum for weeks, pointing to a few polls that show Allred trailing by only two or three points, within pollsters' margin of error. Morning Consult's poll put Allred ahead 45-44.

Congressman Allred has built a campaign to win and Cancun Cruz is more vulnerable than ever," Allred spokesman Josh Stewart said, referring to Cruz' infamous trip to Cancun , Mexico during a winter storm in 2021.

"His policies hurt Texans, whether its his extreme abortion ban or his tax cuts for billionaires. This November, Texans are finally going to get a Senator they dont have to be embarrassed by.

Harris described the moment she became the Democratic nominee after Biden ended his reelection bid, saying she felt a responsibility to lead the party and run for the White House.

We each have those moments in our lives where its time to step up, she told Oprah on Thursday. I felt a sense of responsibility to be honest with you, and with that comes a sense of purpose.

There really is so much at stake, Harris added. I felt a great responsibility and the incredible power of the people. Im not the only leader in this, were all leaders in this.
