The United Nations convened at a meeting Friday to approve 17 Sustainable Development Goals aimed at eradicating poverty, combating climate change and tackling other critical issues.
The U.N. hopes to publicize its agenda and get governments and everyday people around the world on board with these targets.

Ensuring access to reliable, renewable and up-to-date energy services.
8. DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
Creating equal and decent employment opportunities that increase economic growth.
9. INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Developing strong infrastructures to support industrial and economic growth.
10. REDUCED INEQUALITIES
Reduce inequality both within and between countries by increasing regulation, encouraging equal opportunity and facilitating migration.
11. SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
Designing inclusive and safe communities by creating affordable and sustainable housing and transportation.
12. RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
Ensuring sustainable consumption through recycling and resource management.
13. CLIMATE ACTION
Combatting and raising awareness for climate change on a local and global level.
14. LIFE BELOW WATER
Conserving the oceans, seas and marine wildlife to promote sustainable development.
15. LIFE ON LAND
Protecting natural habitats and forests, combating desertification and preserving biodiversity.
16. PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS
Promoting peaceful and inclusive societies by actively combating violence, human trafficking and corruption.
