Brock Long, known for mishandling the Hurricane Maria response, got a steep discount from former Homeland Security head Kirstjen Nielsen.
During his tenure, Long came under fire for improperly using government resources and mishandling the Hurricane Maria response.
He will remain in his post and has been ordered to reimburse the government "as appropriate," the Homeland Security secretary said.
But Administrator Brock Long won't lose his job -- for now.

Long-simmering tensions with Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen have boiled over.
FEMA Director Brock Long dismissed her complaints as "political noise."
"And all I did last week, or even this week, was ask for help. It has to happen in a sustained manner," Carmen Yuln Cruz said.
Trump can thank his predecessor, his predecessors pick to run the disaster agency, and the "deep state."
Brock Long is probably one of the "best prepared" people in the country for this task, a former FEMA official says.
