WHAT'S HAPPENING
As police moved in, students were pushed to the ground, pulled by their arms and sprayed with a chemical irritant, according to an assistant professor at the university.
Honestly, it was the most beautiful thing thats happened on campus throughout my eight years at UCLA, one professor said.
"We are not an authoritarian nation where we silence people or squash dissent," he said.
In contrast to Ivy Leagues colleges, many campus demonstrations in the Midwest have been able to continue without much police escalation or incidents.
Department of Public Safety troopers came on campus and arrested several students protesting the war in Gaza.
Despite Harvard restricting access to Harvard Yard, students still set up an encampment to protest Israeli military action against Palestinians.
