Coyotes
The wild coyote made himself at home on a deck sofa in the city's upscale Russian Hill area.
The child's injuries were not life-threatening, but officials warn that people and their trash can lead to risky incidents.
"Cat 1, coyote 0," police in British Columbia wrote alongside the video.
Animal experts have found that the two species frequently hunt together.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
One dog owner was unnerved by the boldness of the coyote.
Carlo the coyote pup is now in the care of a wildlife rehabilitator.
"It was pretty resilient," says Arcangelo Liberatore.
The animals may have eaten the psychoactive fly agaric mushroom, which grows in the area.
