As COVID-19 spreads throughout ICE facilities nationwide, the public health crisis of the coronavirus has compromised the U.S. immigration detention system endangering medically vulnerable detained individuals and staff.
At least 173 U.S. representatives called for the DHS inspector general to look into allegations that a doctor is performing mass hysterectomies on migrant women.
The online retailer furnished a migrant detention facility for children on the southern border, and its employees are furious.
An official, who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity, wouldn't say exactly how many children are currently detained there.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The complaints allege a range of charges, including wrongful death, malpractice and inadequate medical care.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) remained steadfast on the House floor while playing heart-wrenching audio of detained children separated from their parents, despite fierce opposition from Rep. Karen Handel (R-GA).
"To see innocent people ripped from their way of life, to essentially be incarcerated and used as cheap labor is really crazy, man," he says in the video.
The ultimate fate of 800 asylum seekers held in the camp remains unclear.
Two prisoners face additional charges after the phony weapon was discovered inside a cell.
