If Jennifer McClellan wins the special election in February, she will become the first Black woman to represent Virginia in Congress.
Republican state Sen. Amanda Chase cited state Sen. Jennifer McClellan's membership in the Virginia Black Legislative Caucus as proof of her divisiveness.
"I know that this is not a moment to retreat to the past but to step boldly into our future," McClellan says in her campaign announcement.
