We expect more from our national leaders to address this issue in a real way, Mayor Eric Adams said during his visit to El Paso.
The plan authorizes police officers to involuntarily place homeless people in psychiatric care, even if they don't appear to pose a threat to the public.
"We did our job as New Yorkers and now were winning," the mayor said on TV station NY1.
