WHAT'S HAPPENING
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency across much of the state over the hot temperatures.
Just five weeks ago, temperatures soared in record-shattering hot weather that killed scores of the most vulnerable in June.
Gov. Kate Brown said fires were growing worse due to climate change. "They're hotter, they're more fierce, and obviously much more challenging to tackle."
Worsening heat waves and extreme weather events as a result of climate change are a big worry for wine growers.
Kate Brown said it was "absolutely unacceptable" that at least 95 people died during the phenomenal temperature surge.
In Oregon alone, at least 70 people have died in connection with last weekend's record-breaking heat.
